McGuffey's Tip of the Week-Lent - February 16,2016

Lent

We are now almost a week into Lent, but it is not too late to give up something or set a goal. The three pillars of Lent are prayer, fasting, and alms giving. This is the season when you give up some of your favorite things like chocolate, television, etc. to remind you to pray, realize your calling and set your mind on the kingdom of God. However, besides just giving up something you like, you can also set certain goals (start a journal or a blog, write letters to loved ones, read a chapter of a book a day, etc.) you would like to achieve during this season, or do some voluntary or charity work (visit a nursing home, help around the house) to help your family and community.

This would be a great time to start including the supplementary readings, coloring pages, word cards, and sheet music as goals for your children.
