McGuffey's Tip of the Week- October 27, 2015
October 31st is recognized across the globe as Halloween, but October 31st is also recognized as Reformation Day. On 31 October 1517, Martin Luther wrote to the Archbishop if Mainz and Magdeburg protesting against the sale of indulgences. He enclosed in his letter a copy of his 95 Theses. And following Reformation Day, on November 1st, is All Saint's Day where we remember and honor all the saints, known and unknown.
A saint is "a person sanctified; a holy or godly person; one eminent for piety and virtue; any true Christian as being redeemed and consecrated by God." However, there are many saints who have been canonized by the church, e.g. St. Francis of Assisi, St. Patrick, St. Nicolas, etc.
In many European countries candles are lit to honor the saints and loved ones who have gone before them.
This is a good time to learn more about the Reformation and the Reformers, as they are also saints.
Here are a few candle crafts to do for All Saint's Day:

Learn about the patron saint of your country or city. If you don't have one learn about the patron saints of different countries and cities around the world.
